Miriam Wu
Cellist, Suzuki cello teacher
Miriam Wu grew up in Southern California, attended Occidental College, and holds a MAT and a California State permanent teaching credential. She taught high school English before moving to Binghamton, NY. There she was introduced to Suzuki string teaching and decided to combine her two loves: teaching children and playing the cello. She completed Suzuki teacher training, developed an active Suzuki cello studio and founded the annual Binghamton Cello Festival for cello students in the northeast region. She has taught at Suzuki summer institutes and on the faculty of Ithaca Talent Education (Suzuki). She also was a member of two professional orchestras in Binghamton. In 2010 Miriam returned to California with her husband, where she resumed performing and teaching and completed an applied music program at Moorpark College. Miriam has published Scaling the Tenor Clef Dragon, a workbook for cellists.
